Three Phase Voltage Monitoring Relays

Three Phase Multifunction Voltage Sensitive Relays are designed for protecting three phase voltage equipment from impermissible circuit voltage surges, phase breaks, phase imbalance, phase adherence, and phase sequence violation. The relays are effectively utilized for protection of refrigerating, compressor, air-conditioning, and other equipment with electric motor loads. Also used in devices that require continuous monitoring of circuit voltage quality, availability and phase content, e.g. in automatic transfer schemes.

All voltage monitoring relays have the resetting ratio (hysteresis) of about 5V. The effective range of our relays is 30-150% of rated voltage. In case of extreme undervoltage and voltage spikes, the relay tripping acceleration is activated. The voltage monitoring relays provide for automatic load energizing after voltage parameters recovery within predetermined time relay. The relays are compact in size and weight. All relays are mounted onto standard DIN-rail.

Th? voltage sensitive relays are connected parallel to load and control the magnetic starter coil; thus the use of voltage-sensitive relays is practically independent of the load wattage. The voltage monitoring relay outputs have two groups of independent contacts (one pair of contacts is normally closed, and the other one – normally open), switching load up to 5A.

RNPP-311M voltage monitoring relay is designed for protection of three phase loads against major types of mains faults, as:


  • RMS voltage reaching beyond admissible thresholds - over and under voltage
  • Phase loss or Single phasing
  • Phase sequence order violation or reverse phase sequence
  • Phase coincidence or shorting of two or more phases
  • Phase Imbalance or asymmetry

 

The device performs monitoring of the main circuit parameters and de-energizes (trip) load when the parameters fall beyond specified boundaries.

 

The front panel LEDs display the following:

 

  • Presence of true RMS voltage in the mains
  • Load status (On/Off)
  • Type of fault


Adjustment potentiometers allow for setting:


  • Tripping threshold for the minimum/the maximum voltage, (% of the rated voltage)
  • Time delay for load re-energizing (reset) after the circuit parameters recovery
  • Tripping time delay for load de-energizing (trip) in case of all circuit voltage faults


With DIP switches on the device’s front panel the user can select the type of circuit monitored 400 / 415V, and turn on/off monitoring of the following circuit parameters:


  • Phase sequence
  • Phase imbalance or asymmetry
  • Under voltage
  • Over voltage

 

Corresponding combinations of the RNPP-311M switches allow for functioning in various modes:


  • Mode of circuit voltage comprehensive monitoring
  • Minimum/the maximum voltage monitoring mode
  • Minimum voltage monitoring mode
  • Maximum voltage monitoring mode
  • Phase presence monitoring mode
  • Phase sequence violation and phase coincidence monitoring mode
  • Phase imbalance monitoring mode; and other modes

 

The phase availability monitoring function is maintained in any position of the switches, including OFF position. The feature of 24V DC online power supply is available (optional).

  • Violation of the mains voltage phase completeness and symmetry

 

The device performs monitoring the main circuit parameters and de-energizes load when the parameters fall beyond specified boundaries. The relay also tracks the status of magnetic starter power contacts at no-load and under load while monitoring their operability (burning or sticking).

 

The front panel LEDs display the following:

 

  • Presence of voltage in the mains
  • Load status (ON/OFF)
  • Type of fault

 

Six variable pot knobs on the front panel allow for setting:

 

  • The maximum allowable voltage tripping threshold
  • The minimum allowable voltage tripping threshold

The RNPP-311 voltage monitoring relay is designed for protection of three-phase loads against major type of mains faults, as:

The device performs monitoring the main circuit parameters and de-energizes load when the parameters fall beyond specified boundaries.

 

The front panel LEDs display the following:

 

  • Presence of voltage in each phase
  • Emergency de-energizing the load

 

The trip setting for the maximum/minimum voltage threshold is combined and is set by adjustable potentiometer as percentage of the rated voltage. RNPP-311 automatically energizes load upon expiration of the AR (automatic restart time) since the moment of the mains parameters recovery. The devices are manufactured with standard AR delay set to 5 sec, but optionally, they can be manufactured with the AR delay presets of 0, 10, 60, 100, 150, 200 and 250 sec.
